Green Lantern Redesign

A redesign i did for a contest over at project rooftop. I've been a long time watcher of the site and I figured it's high time I submit something to it (crappy photoshop skills not withstanding). Here's hoping I make the cut. Always tough competition and some truly talented artists over there.

A little about the design: I always felt like the lantern's just look a little too naked for my tastes; so I added a galactic camo poncho to try to break up the silhouette. I based a lot of the suit on some research into the new space suits and the skin tight suits they are wearing on the space station to help prevent bone loss and painful spine lengthening, because I figured lantern's would have similar concerns. the visor is a light projection from the ring which acts as a HUD and tactical display. I really love the direction the Iron Man movies went with Tony's HUD and his interaction with Jarvis, and I wanted to give the Lantern's something akin to that. So the ring throws up a light band over the wearer's eyes during combat and travel to give the wearer significant information such as ring juice left, the wearer's vitals, tactical markers, universal translations, and physical analysis, etc. etc. I'm figuring this is Kyle Rayner, as he is typically able to pull off more daring costumes and the galactic poncho nicely links him to some artist's interpretations of him as Ion.
